“My yoga journey began in the Summer of 2001 shortly after graduating from High School. I’m a book nerd and love spending my time at local libraries and bookstores. I found a book that piqued my interest called
Yoga Mind, Body & Spirit: A Return to Wholeness by Donna Farhi and that was the start of my yoga journey. I was in a challenging and traumatic home experience at that time in my life and that book led me into my first experience of an emotionally safe yoga practice. I started practicing yoga along with videos and eventually started attending community yoga classes at my local YMCA in my hometown of South Florida. I relocated to Charlotte around 2011 and after some huge life transitions and a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia in 2012, I decided
that Mindfulness and Yoga were a natural extension of myself and that I wanted to share that gift of healing with others.
A few years after the pandemic I took the leap and completed my 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher journey through the Yoga & Ayurveda Center under the training of Stephanie Ball-Mitchell. In addition, I have trained in other alternative healing modalities such as Mat Pilates, and Ayurveda Specialist training. I also became attuned as a Usui Reiki Master with Healing Today School at Serenity Acres farm in South Carolina under my Reiki Master Barbara Denny. My journey with Yoga and Alternative Holistic Healing led me to start my own business in March of 2023 called Aligned Movements. I have taught all my modalities at public schools, popup events, conferences, and virtually online. Now I’m so excited and honored to be able to bring the gift of
mindfulness and sacred movement to the BY Studio!
A few fun things about me include the fact that I was born in Jamaica, I love music and singing, reading, drinking matcha tea, hiking, and all things Hemp! Most of all I cherish quality time with my husband, two
teens, and our fur babies. Although we live in Huntersville, I look forward to exploring more of the quaint town of Belmont and serving the BY community. Ashe’ in the Yoruba West African language means “Power, Life, and Energy to you. And so it is.
