“I was first introduced to yoga in high school, when my mom asked me to join her at the YMCA, which was like pulling teeth to get me there. I went and didn’t care much for it because I was 16 and the last thing I wanted to do was slow down and be with my own thoughts. I continued to hear about the physical and mental benefits through my mom and the occasional online article that would pop up over the next few years. After college, I’d gotten my first real job and was for the first time experiencing depression and anxiety. I googled “yoga for depression,” remembering those so-called benefits, and repeated the same Yoga With Adrienne class night after night. I started to notice a shift in my mood and the way my body was feeling, so I began to take different types of classes and found my way to a yoga studio. I was hooked and began reading about yoga philosophy and practicing as much as I could. A few years later, I decided to take the plunge and enroll in a yoga teacher training. The training itself was hard physically, but mostly mentally and emotionally. Ultimately, it gave me a different perspective and permission to come to my mat as I am, and not feel the need to look a certain way or achieve a specific posture, and know that I am doing something beneficial for myself by just showing up. I believe that yoga is for everybody and every body. My classes will always welcome you and celebrate you exactly where you are.

I’m from Gastonia and live with my husband and cat in Belmont. I love BY and all of the amazing people that make up the community. When I’m not on my mat, I’m likely outside, walking, reading, or working on my other passion, non-alcoholic craft beverages!”
